GOALS AND METHODS
At the centre of the project are didactic-technological innovations for learning and teaching in real-life and realistic (virtual) laboratory environments. Students as well as teachers get context-based tutorial assistance to set-up and conduct experiments. A web-based infrastructure solution (seamless smart lab) allows for an intelligent network of teaching aids and laboratory equipment via so-called „smart objects“ as well as for device-independent usability. This way, knowledge and skills learned in laboratory rotations can be accessed any time and any place when they are needed in practice. Success of learning is controlled on the basis of interaction patterns and the sensor-based capture of experiment’s statuses. In an experience protocol, virtual and interactive versions of the experiments conducted can be created and accessed outside the laboratory environment.
INNOVATIONS AND PERSPECTIVES
In the framework of different use contexts, the project develops a universal learning system for lab rotations. Emphasis is put on usability aspects as well as on questions of the didactic design of teaching and learning contents and the sensor-based capture of data. The chances and risks concerning self-determination, participation and privacy are also considered.
